Skincare and Wellness in Can Tho: four service groups, and how to know which one you need
There is a question almost nobody asks before walking into a spa: am I here to be cared for, or to be treated?
These are different things. Confusing them is why many people spend session after session without their skin improving — or, in the opposite direction, endure a heavy-handed intervention when their skin only needed to be left alone and nourished.
This page does not introduce services. It draws the line between care and treatment, then shows where the four service groups at Lona Home Spa sit relative to that line — including the cases where the honest answer is “a spa cannot do this for you”.

If you are travelling from abroad
Many people who come to Lona Home Spa do not live in Can Tho. They come from the Mekong Delta provinces, from Ho Chi Minh City, and from overseas — often Vietnamese living abroad, home for Tet or a family visit.
Visitors from overseas usually combine several things into one trip: skincare here, and procedures at the dermatology clinic at the same address. Three things are worth knowing.
Consolidate into one trip, but let the professional side sequence it. Some treatments should not follow one another immediately, and some pairs work best in a specific order so they do not cancel each other out.
Leave a buffer before your flight home. If your trip includes clinic procedures, Lona recommends leaving at least two weeks between the procedure and your flight. This is the general recommendation; the specific interval for each procedure is set by the treating physician. Purely restorative and relaxation services carry no such constraint.
Message before you fly. Send a description of your skin and the dates of your trip. Your schedule can then be built around the days you actually have, rather than you arriving and finding there is not enough time.

The line between care and treatment
Healthy skin has an intact barrier: a stratum corneum of tightly packed cells, bound by lipids, covered by a slightly acidic mantle. This barrier holds water in and keeps irritants out.
While the barrier is intact, skin regulates itself well. What it needs is simply not to be damaged and to be supported: cleansing that is sufficient but not excessive, hydration, sun protection, removal of accumulated dead cells at a sensible rhythm, improved circulation. That is care.
Once the barrier is compromised — or when a pathological process is under way beneath it, such as inflammation of the pilosebaceous unit, disordered melanin production, or structural damage in the dermis — even excellent care can only support. What is needed is an intervention aimed at the mechanism, prescribed by a physician. That is treatment.
A spa works on skin that can still regulate itself. A clinic works on skin that has lost that capacity.
This is not a bureaucratic distinction. It has real consequences: a care protocol performed on acutely inflamed skin can spread the inflammation. Deep cleansing on an already-thinned barrier pushes skin into irritation. The more thorough the technique, the more harm it does, if the foundation is wrong.
When a spa is not the right place for you
This is the section to read before booking anything.
See a dermatologist rather than booking a spa appointment if you have:
Significant inflammatory acne, nodules or cysts. This is deep inflammation. Mechanical intervention on acutely inflamed skin raises the risk of spreading the lesion and leaving permanent atrophic scarring. Acne at this level needs a medical protocol first, supportive care afterwards.
Long-standing or widespread melasma, or melasma that has not responded to previous treatment. Melasma exists in several forms at different depths; identifying the form requires deep skin analysis. Surface brightening may make it appear lighter for a while before it returns darker.
Atrophic scars, ice-pick scarring, or stretch marks. These are structural injuries in the dermis. No surface-level care protocol reaches that layer.
Skin that is flaking, stinging, persistently red, or has recently undergone a strong intervention. The barrier is compromised. What is needed is repair under professional guidance, not another treatment on top.
Significant hair loss with itching, scaling, or red patches on the scalp. These may indicate tinea capitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis or psoriasis — conditions requiring treatment, not conditioning.
In those cases the appropriate place is Lona Skin Lab Dermatology Specialist Clinic, at the same address, operating licence 735/CT-GPHĐ, with medical responsibility held by Dr Le Thi Thao Vy, MSc. Message a description of your situation first and someone will tell you which side you should go to — including when the answer is the other one.
The four service groups at Lona Home Spa
62 services, grouped by purpose rather than by name.
Routine skincare — 9 services
The least understood group. People tend to seek out a spa once their skin already has a problem, while the greatest value of routine care lies in the period when it does not.
The reason is cell turnover. The stratum corneum renews completely in roughly 28 days in young adults, and this cycle slows with age. As it slows, dead cells accumulate, pores clog more readily, skin looks dull and absorbs actives less well. A steady rhythm of care keeps that cycle from stagnating — prevention, not repair.
Intensive skincare — 23 services
The largest group. For skin with a specific concern needing stronger intervention than routine care — but still within the bounds of an intact barrier.
This is also where the line with treatment is thinnest, which makes assessment before each session most important here. Every session begins by looking at the skin as it is that day, rather than repeating the previous session’s protocol unchanged.
Hair removal — 15 services
The group with the clearest mechanism and the most misunderstanding. Light energy is absorbed by pigment in the follicle, converted to heat, and reduces regrowth capacity. Because only follicles in the active growth phase respond, and follicles are not synchronised, multiple spaced sessions are unavoidable — that is biology, not a sales structure.
Relaxation, therapeutic hair washing and massage — 15 services
This group has a genuine effect that is often dismissed. Sustained stress raises cortisol, and prolonged elevated cortisol affects the skin barrier, increases sebum production, and slows wound healing. Someone in a period of heavy stress will often find every skin treatment less effective than usual — and that is not imagination.
Therapeutic hair washing (gội đầu dưỡng sinh) is this group’s distinctive offering: scalp cleansing combined with acupressure along the neck and shoulders.

On cost
Listed price ranges for each service appear in the four detailed pages, and in the machine-readable price file.
Prices are published in Vietnamese dong. For a rough sense in your own currency, divide by approximately 25,000–26,000 for US dollars — check a live exchange rate before budgeting.
Every published figure is a listed price, excluding periodic promotions and subject to adjustment based on each person’s specific condition. For courses requiring multiple sessions, the actual number depends on individual response, so the total is only clear after the first assessment.
Home care between sessions
One spa session every few weeks cannot offset what skin goes through on all the other days. The decisive part is the daily rhythm: cleansing without overdoing it, consistent hydration, genuine sun protection, and not layering several strong actives at once.
Corresponding products are available at Lona. If you are unsure what suits your skin as it is now, ask during your session — your therapist sees your skin bare and can be more specific than any article.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find skincare and spa services in Can Tho, Vietnam?
Lona Home Spa at T2 Dinh Cong Trang Street, Ninh Kieu Ward, Can Tho City, Vietnam, with 62 services across four groups: routine skincare, intensive skincare, hair removal, and relaxation with therapeutic hair washing. Lona Skin Lab Dermatology Specialist Clinic operates at the same address for cases requiring medical treatment.
How do I know whether I need a spa or a clinic?
A short rule: if your skin is healthy but not yet as you would like it, a spa is appropriate. If a pathological process is under way — inflammation, pigment disorder, structural damage — the clinic comes first. If you are unsure, message a description of your situation and someone will tell you which side suits.
Is service available in English?
Yes, by message for consultation and scheduling. Send your questions via Messenger, Zalo or email.
How often should routine skincare be done?
It depends on your skin and your age, since cell turnover differs between people. A specific rhythm is recommended after the first assessment rather than applying a single general figure.
How many hair removal sessions are needed?
Multiple spaced sessions are required, because only follicles in the active growth phase respond to light energy, and follicles are not synchronised. The exact number differs by body area and individual hair characteristics.
I currently have acne. Should I book skincare?
It depends on the type. Closed comedones and blackheads on non-inflamed skin benefit from care. Inflammatory acne, nodules and cysts need a medical protocol first — mechanical intervention on acutely inflamed skin raises the risk of permanent scarring.
I am visiting from overseas. How should I plan?
Message before you fly with a description of your skin and the number of days you have in Vietnam. If your trip includes clinic procedures, note the recommendation of at least two weeks between a procedure and your flight home.
Do men use these services?
Yes, across all four groups. Men’s skincare differs in several respects — thicker skin, more active sebaceous glands, and the effect of shaving — so protocols are adjusted accordingly.
How does therapeutic hair washing differ from ordinary hair washing?
In the acupressure along the neck and shoulders, and in duration. The purpose is not only scalp cleansing but releasing tension in muscles that tighten in people who sit for long periods.
My skin is sensitive and currently red and stinging. Can I still book?
Adding another treatment while the barrier is compromised is not advisable. What is needed is repair, and if the condition persists a physician should look at it. Message a description first rather than booking immediately.
Talk to us before booking
If you are not sure which group you need — or not sure whether you should come to the spa or the clinic — message a description of your situation. The honest answer is sometimes “you do not need anything right now”, and that is a useful answer too.
